Party Conferences 2008

Innovation

For the 2008 party conference season, Sue Ryder Care promoted the innovative work carried out by the charity, as part of the Innovations in Care campaign (for more information, please click here).

Lord Darzi’s recent review of the NHS placed innovation at the heart of providing care and support services in the future, with Third Sector providers like Sue Ryder Care increasingly recognised as ‘partners of choice’ by government, local commissioners and patients.  This issue has become more of a priority for the government and with several of Sue Ryder Care’s services receiving national recognition for their innovative solutions to providing care, there was much to discuss.

Stands

Sue Ryder Care had stands at the Labour party conference and the Conservative party conference, where the innovative work of the charity and how it helps to liberate lives was discussed.  Visitors to the stand were asked "what would liberate your life" as part of an informal survey.

Fringe events

Sue Ryder Care, in partnership with the Long-Term Conditions Alliance, hosted fringe events at the Labour party conference and the Conservative party conference entitled ‘Liberating Lives, Delivering Innovative Care through the Third Sector’.  The events explored solutions to providing cutting edge neurological and palliative care, and the barriers that stifle the development of innovative services.
